Christine Renfro- FNP

Christine is a Family Nurse Practitioner with 21 years of experience in family medicine, women’s health care, Urgent Care and had a private practice specializing in menopause and Bioidentical Hormone Replacement.  She graduated with high honors from the University of Utah, receiving a writing award for her thesis entitled “ADHD- a Biopsychosocial Care Model for children and families”.  She is board-certified as a Nurse Practitioner through the American Nurses Credentialing Center.  She specializes in meeting the needs of young adults and loves to help them navigate the health care system and learn how to advocate for their health and wellness.  Other professional interests include care and management of mental health concerns, ADHD, PCOS, Eating Disorders, contraception, hormone replacement for both men and women, gynecological issues, breast health, thyroid disorders, chronic fatigue and bone health.  In 2022 she went to West Texas and worked at a refugee camp for 4 months, taking care of children ages 12-18 that had crossed the border as unaccompanied minors.

Having worked in a Cardiac ICU for 20 years prior to becoming a Nurse Practitioner, she takes care to identify cardiac risks and disease, including lipid management, blood pressure control and heart attack and stroke risk.  She is a lifelong learner and has attended many conferences and seminars to increase her knowledge and skills.  She is certified and able to complete DOT physical exams.  She is concussion certified through the NIH.  She has expertise in skin issues and has treated acne with Accutane (and other treatments) for many years.

Christine is passionate about her role as a caregiver and takes time to listen to her patients’ concerns and address their needs.  She believes that wellness involves diagnosing disease states and optimizing health; but includes many different aspects of a patients’ life including their mental, emotional, physical, spiritual and social needs.  She enjoys the teaching aspect of medicine as a past nursing instructor and helps individuals understand their health, their prescriptions and takes time to explain preventative care and answer questions.

Christine enjoys spending time with her husband of 43 years, her 4 adult children, their spouses and her 8 grandchildren.  She loves reading a good book in front of the fireplace, listening to podcasts, hiking, teaching children, going to the gym and hot fudge sundaes (hence the need for the gym).  She and her husband hope to someday be sent on a service mission somewhere in the world.

She is excited to join the team at Health and Vitality, and for the opportunity to learn from, listen to and love her colleagues and her patients.
