Nikki Hughes - MSN, RN, FNP
Nikki Hughes, MSN, RN, FNP, is an advanced practitioner. She obtained her MSN-FNP degree from Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions and her undergraduate degree from Joyce University.
Nikki's introduction to the medical field came unconventionally, as her daughter was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease at the age of 8 and was not responsive to treatments. She later was diagnosed with AML (Acute Myeloid Leukemia). She witnessed firsthand the positive impact that healthcare workers can have on a patient and the family. This unique perspective inspired her to pursue nursing and later receive her Nurse Practitioner degree as she strives to provide excellent care to families and assist them in navigating the sometimes tricky medical world.
Nikki has worked in multiple areas of nursing, including critical care, surgical, and public health. As an NP she worked in Nephrology. She enjoyed caring for patients that were on dialysis and in the Chronic Kidney Disease Clinic. Getting to know patients on dialysis and their families made the job rewarding. Seeing patients get a kidney transplant was truly special. Although it was a hard area to practice, due to the critical state of some of the patients, providing them genuine care and concern helped build a trusting patient/provider relationship. The relationship made hard conversations easier to have.
She loves the outdoors and is an avid runner. She also enjoys camping, hiking, fishing, and spending time with her family.
She looks forward to serving her patients and providing them with a holistic, big-picture approach to overall health and wellness, and she strives to help people live the healthiest lives possible.
