Carol S. Tanner, PA-C
Carol is a family practice physician assistant, specializing in pediatric, adolescent, and adult care for 20 years. Her patients value the expert care she provides as well as the time she spends helping manage their health care needs.
Carol holds a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Southern California, a Master’s in Exercise Physiology from Temple University, and a Master’s in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Utah, graduating in the top of her class. Carol specialized in pediatrics and women’s health for more than 15 years, but for the past several years has addressed the needs of all ages from children through adults in her work. Carol has special interests in addressing the needs of diabetics including nutrition counseling, obesity and weight loss, and helping patients develop healthier lifestyles. Carol is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, the Utah Academy of Physician Assistants, the Association of Family Practice Physician Assistants, and the American Society of Endocrine Physician Assistants. Carol has been an instructor for healthy lifestyle workshops and hopes to begin offering these workshops in the near future. She is a past clinical coordinator and faculty member of Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions helping develop their Physician Assistant Program and now currently serves on the Advisory Board of Utah Valley University’s Physician Assistant Program.
Carol enjoys spending time with her husband, as well as the families of her five children and six grandchildren. She loves exercising, traveling, working on family history, reading a good book, playing the piano and singing with her family, and watching her children perform in the fine arts. As a cancer survivor, she looks forward to beginning doctoral work in the near future and further investigating the effects of exercise, diet, and behavioral influences on cancer and chronic disease prevention and treatment.
Carol is able to provide a comprehensive range of health care services including child and adult well exams, sports physicals, ADD evaluations, women’s health issues (birth control, pap smears, IUD insertions, lactation counseling, PCOS, hormone replacement, etc.), diabetes care, depression and anxiety management, blood pressure and cholesterol management, acute fracture diagnosis and care, lacerations, skin care, thyroid disorders, weight loss and nutrition counseling, and promotion of healthy lifestyles. She works in partnership with her patients, helping them understand their health, wellness, prescription medication, and urgent care needs.
